about

song/poem written by Te' V. Smith, featuring lead singer of 'Left Of Eden' Matty Moe

lyrics

This is not the time to pretend and
I’ve come to the conclusion
that the world is squared.
It’s only the reasonable explanation
for cycles
and
trends with sharp edges
that cut away at the freedom
of it’s inhabitants.
My God told me to
mimic, mock and massacre
my neighbors
until I realized the real lies
in my religion
and
turned off my television.
I now use it to sit my books on
and
when jaded the remote controls
are spaceships to remotes corners of my mind
that the previous signals blocked.

On my couch
I remembered love
and how draining it was.
Spooked, We preyed on one another
in the name of our holy ghost
that haunted the hell out of us in a holy way
and
that god has no answers.
So we rented instructional videos
on how to properly behave
in an improbable union!
“by the way romantic comedies are really tragedies”
we have only a few channels
programmed by the programmers
and brought to you by paradise
the proud sponsor of the power of corruption.
The bill has been paid just enjoy!
Sit calm you pleasant peasants
Demise is a delightful dish
and
These animals where put here to entertain us!
They fear us missing their favorite shows for our ratings go up

We are the once upon a times that defy it.
Shooting stars
that turned their aim
on the canons in between their commercial breaks.
vacant places hasn’t the mercy for full faces
Brilliantly corrupt .
The features of the dream accent the eye.
Hereditary prisoners
And we only have peace when we die.
And I’ve been dead twice today
(I get off on my resurrections)

We are a weird origami.
Ancient and cut down to be shaped by others.
Carved into picture frames that house obedience.
And gives way to mercies portal

DECLINE OF THE DIASPORA

We happened
and there is nothing they can do about it
We shall not be conquered by cowards constitution

We are not a race
For the finish line is a mirage
All worlds combined in us
We are Venus and mars
Dust and stars
Don’t allow their view to tell who you are

Hand crafter memories.
Eye have seen the armies of men
created to tear away at the very fabric of civilized fantasy
till I collapse their shall be no more tears for fears
eye have seen the sun kiss mountains and realized how large I was
(in my insignificance)

And she said: before you can be faithful to your people you must be faithful to yourself
The future is among us
I persuaded tomorrow to be today.
So I speak on behalf of my grandchildren who will carry within them the same message of life, liberty and love.
Our rightful position sketched on the wings of doves
(Straighten up and fly right)
We were beautiful before the defined
We need only “breath” to call on the divine
End rhyme

I am sent me
Through similar similes of assimilated symmetry
I leak the ink in me
And hop out my penmanship
To swim through the near sighted to remain focused

We have been fooled by the peripheral
Just within our reach are lands unnurtured by our hands
From jakes to janjaweeds we suffer from the same plan
From east st Louis to Sudan
Hold your peace and release your tongues for this war is far from won
Singular weapons
And your voice be the one
And for my next trick
I’ll pull you out of a comfortable place
Just beneath our luxury lie the face
Of the forgotten
And
They prey not in the name of God but men
But the god within commands a difference

Privileged petitioners
Prejudiced with good intentions
The hour for turning away is well spent
And
I am obliged to remind us of our obligation

Moonlit midnights
And our stars are far from reach
We have abandoned the sun

And now I lay me down to sleep
I pray the lord my soul should keep
And if I die before they wake
I pray the lord my words they take.
